What We Do
Art in the Schools
The Eastport Arts Center collaborates with the schools in the area to introduce students to a variety of artistic disciplines and also give them an understanding of the creative process through direct hands-on experience. Sometimes students come as a group to the Arts Center for these experiences, such as the demonstrations of the Arts Center’s tracker organ with local organist Edward French. This year, we will have five family oriented performances that focus on performing arts education and community involvement.
Scholarships
Thanks to the generosity of JMG United and the students of Washington Academy and Rose Gaffney schools in Machias, the Eastport Arts Center has received $1,000 to provide scholarship and material assistance to students between the ages of 5-17. This scholarship will be provided to students who express need and are located within a 45-mile radius of the Eastport Arts Center. We hope to extend this scholarship into the fall months to create an afterschool program for local art students.
The Eastport Arts Center also has limited scholarship available to adults, please inquire. If you cannot pay the full fee for the workshop, you can apply for a scholarship to cover part or the entire fee. You can also volunteer to help with ArtsBloom or other EAC events in exchange for scholarship assistance. Please visit the volunteer page to do so.
Summer Workshops
During the summer, ArtsBloom hosts workshops by various artists. Each program is designed to create interest and skills in those individuals who have always wanted to learn basic skills as well as enhance current skills. Look over the current workshop schedule for more information.
