Education at the EAC
What We Do
Sundays at the Arts Center
These popular Sunday Afternoon programs provide a window into the creative process in music, poetry, drama and storytelling. In addition to performing/reading/sharing a piece, the presenters talk about the artist, the artistic form they use, and the historic context of their creation. Together, the Eastport Concert Series and the EAC create wonderful educational experiences for young and old. These performances will start January 2009.
Youth and Adult workshops at the Arts Center
Youth get hands-on learning in a variety of artistic disciplines, such as painting, puppetry, dance, and Passamaquoddy arts. Some of the high quality classes taught for adults are painting, print-making, and fabric arts. Classes are offered during the summer and school vacation times. (See below for our summer schedule)
Arts in the Schools
The EAC collaborates with the schools in the area to introduce students to a variety of artistic disciplines and also give them an understanding of the creative process through direct hands-on experience. Sometimes students come as a group to the Arts Center for these experiences (such as the demonstrations of the Arts Center’s tracker organ). Other times artists work with students in the schools.
Scholarships
To ensure that everyone can participate in our summer workshops, we have scholarships available. Scholarships are available only to residents of Eastport and surrounding communities. If you cannot pay the full fee for the workshop, you can apply for a scholarship to cover part or the entire fee. You can also volunteer to help with ArtsBloom or other EAC events in exchange for scholarship assistance.
Please visit the volunteer page to do so.
